Professor Adua Mustapha Ismail is the first Professor of Civil Aviation Law in Nigeria and the current Head of the Department of Business Law, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin. He is also the Principal Partner of Ismail Adua Mustapha & Co.

His practice and academic work focus on Civil Aviation Law, Contract Law and Commercial Law, with particular expertise in civil aviation security, international aviation regulation, aviation insurance and the legal and regulatory frameworks governing the aviation sector. His research also examines the intersection of international aviation law, security and Islamic law.

Professor Ismail holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Ilorin, a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, an LL.M from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and a Ph.D in Civil Aviation Law from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006.

With extensive experience in civil aviation law, Professor Ismail has advised and represented clients in aviation-related disputes and has contributed significantly to the development of aviation law scholarship in Nigeria. His academic work includes research on aviation security, passenger screening, aircraft hijacking, air transport terrorism and international civil aviation law. His publications have appeared in national and international journals, including the IIUM Law Journal and the Malaysian Journal of Syariah and Law.

He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria and Nigerian Association of Law Teachers, and is associated with professional networks within the aviation and aerospace law community.

Professor Ismail brings to PLP a distinctive combination of academic leadership, legal practice and specialised expertise in civil aviation law, strengthening the firm’s capacity to advise on complex aviation, regulatory and commercial matters.
